Harambe Celebration

Friday, 5 December 2025

As the holiday season gathers momentum and communities begin leaning into their annual traditions, the Tubman African American Museum invites the public to experience an evening that blends celebration, reflection, and cultural pride. The 2025 Harambe Celebration, centered on the theme “Holiday Traditions,” will take place on Friday, December 5th, 2025, at 7:00 pm.

“Harambe,” a Swahili term meaning ‘to pull together’, has long served as the museum’s invitation for the community to come together through shared heritage and seasonal meaning. This year’s program highlights the many ways families weave legacy into the holidays — through music, storytelling, communal rituals, and the warmth that defines this time of year.
