Fine Art
The Tubman Museum collects and exhibits fine art by African American artists dating from the 19th century to the present. The Museum also collects works of art that refer to, or comment on, developments in African American history and culture. It is not required that works of this nature be created by African Americans, so long as they further the mission of the Museum. Special emphasis is placed on collecting and exhibiting works by artists with strong connections to the Southeastern United States.
