The Tubman Museum proudly presents the first Legacy in the Arts Award to Ulysses Marshall.

This award is given to artists who have demonstrated both artistic excellence and a commitment to exploring and celebrating Black history and culture in their work. It is reserved for artists who have works in public collections and have maintained successful careers as exhibiting artists for more than 25 years.

Ulysses Marshall is a native of Vienna, Georgia. Marshall creates a visual language that speaks of the dignity, pride, and perseverance of black people around the world.
